JATS COURSE SUMMARY
Many training errors, with grave
consequences for the career of future athletes, occur during the early
years of training young athletes. Coaches and trainers must realize the
impact they have on the athletic future of potential professional
athletes and strive to improve their youth training knowledge. This
specific and original certification program will introduce you to all
the elements needed to maximize your expertise in training the future
generations of athletes.
As a Junior Athletes Training Specialist
(JATS) you will learn: The components of a long-term
athletic development program Training principles specific to developing
future champions The specifics for training motor skills, flexibility,
speed, strength and power, and endurance training for young athletes.
Planning and monitoring techniques to prevent stress and burnout.
Prerequisites:
Provide documented proof of: Bachelors Degree/Diploma from an
accredited institution (or must be currently enrolled) Personal trainer
certification (i.e. A.C.E. / C.P.T.N./Can Fit Pro etc.) Professional
liability.

Testing Information
To successfully obtain the JATS certification, you must achieve 70% or
more on all testing components.
1. Multiple-Choice, True/False and
Short Answer Exam
The exam consists of 50 questions on the following topics: Applied
muscle physiology, Variables of training, Exercise
selection, Program design and Planning. Once you have
signed up for the course, an exam will be mailed to you. The questions
will be derived from the course textbook Total Training for Young Champions.
2. Practical Application Scenarios
Using a case- study methodology, the questions will test your ability
to apply scientific and methodological principles into practice. You
will be graded on your ability to create realistic strategies that will
enhance performance and create peak anatomical and physiological
adaptation.
3. Periodization Models for Junior Athletes
This section will test your comprehension of long-term planning
theories and your ability to create practical training models.
Different scenarios will be used to test your knowledge for athletes of
several age groups and sports. The maximum time allowed to complete
this exam is 6 months.
